The period for presenting candidatures for the Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation has now started

The period for presenting candidatures for the third Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation, organised by UCLG, Metropolis and the city of Guangzhou (China), has now begun. This award is aimed at local and regional governments from around the world to recognise innovation that fosters social and economic improvements and environmental sustainability in the world’s cities and regions, boosting the prosperity and quality of life of their citizens.

The last edition of the awards received 259 candidatures from 177 cities in 57 countries around the world, of which 5 were chosen as winners: Antioquia (Colombia), Bristol (United Kingdom), Christchurch (New Zealand), Dakar (Senegal) and Hangzhou (China). The results of the award are given in a publication that also includes a compilation of preselected urban innovation initiatives and detailed information on cases and trends in urban innovation.

To present a candidature, registration must be completed (in English) and the application forms sent to info@guangzhouaward.org. The deadline for registration is 31 May 2016.
