On April 25th and 26th, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) carried a working season addressed and analyzed the main concerns and priorities of Intermediate cities, within the context of building the Global Agenda of Local and Regional Governments. During these sessions, local authorities, practitioners, academics and professional from related institutions on that topic took part in the process.
Intermediary Cities represent a large collectivity of highly populated cities without the international presence. Within that context, UCLG evaluates the global dimensions originated at the local level. In that sense, two publications were released. On one hand, the UCLG framework towards intermediary cities which includes previous outcomes of UCLG working groups and the results of the activities carried by the chair of UNESCO at Universitat de Lleida and UIA-CIMES networks. On the other, it was presented the preliminary chapter of intermediary cities which appears on the IV Global Report on Local Democracy and Decentralisation (GOLD IV) where we have to highlight the active involvement the UCLG Committee on Decentralisation and Locals Self Government led by the Diputació de Barcelona.
